Location: Flexible, with a preference for residents near North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany.

The Role: Join us as a Co-Founder & Head of Engineering, where you will lead the development and scaling of our core technology. You will be responsible for building robust AI-driven systems and establishing the technical foundation of the company.
This role offers a clear path to Co-Founder & Chief Technology Officer (CTO) post-Series A, where you will shape long-term technology strategy and scale the engineering organization.
Your Path to Impact
Short Term (Head of Engineering):
- Design and implement scalable AI/ML systems and data infrastructure
- Lead the development of production-ready software from concept to deployment
- Establish engineering best practices (architecture, CI/CD, quality standards)
- Translate product and clinical requirements into robust technical solutions
Long Term (CTO Development):
- Define and drive the long-term technology vision and roadmap
- Scale and lead the engineering organization, including hiring and team structure
- Oversee development of advanced AI systems and platform capabilities
- Ensure compliance with healthcare standards and data regulations
- Represent Medirion in technical discussions with investors and partners
What You bring to the Team
Essential Qualifications:
- Degree in computer science, data science, AI, or a related field
- Strong experience in building AI/ML systems and data-driven applications (5+ years)
- Experience in computer vision, particularly in processing and analyzing medical or imaging data (2+ years)
- Proficiency in software engineering, system architecture, and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure)
- Experience with scalable system design and full development lifecycle
- Valid work permit in Germany (preferably unlimited)
Preferred Experience:
- Familiarity with healthcare data standards (HL7 FHIR, SNOMED, ICD, etc.)
- Experience with MLOps, model deployment, and large-scale data processing
- Exposure to regulatory environments (e.g. GDPR, MDR)
- Leadership experience or strong ambition to grow into a leadership role (5+ years)
- Understanding of agile methodologies and startup environments
