Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect the Agent Ecosystem: Design and implement the core architecture for MAAHI's network of specialized agents (Financial, Medical, Calendar, etc.), focusing on modularity, scalability, and security.
  • Develop the Orchestration Layer: Build the logic for the central Control Agent, responsible for task decomposition, agent selection, and the synthesis of insights from across the agent network.
  • Implement the Communication Backbone: Design and manage the asynchronous message bus (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ) that enables reliable, traceable communication between agents. Define and maintain the Task Delegation Protocol (TDP).
  • Build Specialized Agents: Develop the core logic for individual agents, integrating them with third-party APIs (e.g., Plaid for finance, health data APIs) and internal data sources.
  • Integrate with the Data Vault: Work closely with the security team to design and implement secure data access patterns, ensuring agents only receive the temporary, specific data they need to perform tasks, in line with our zero-knowledge principles.
  • Champion System Resilience & Scalability: Implement robust error handling, monitoring, and testing strategies to ensure the multi-agent system is reliable, fault-tolerant, and can scale to support millions of users.
  • Collaborate on AI/ML Integration: Work with our AI team to integrate LLMs and other machine learning models into the agents' logic, enabling them to perform complex reasoning and generate proactive insights.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of professional experience in backend or distributed systems engineering.
  • Proven experience designing and building complex, scalable systems using microservices or a similar distributed architecture.
  • Strong proficiency in one or more backend languages (e.g., Python, Go, Rust, Java).
  • Hands-on experience with asynchronous communication patterns and message queue technologies (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ, gRPC).
  • Deep understanding of API design, data modeling, and working with both relational (PostgreSQL) and non-relational databases.
  • A strong foundation in computer science principles, particularly in data structures, algorithms, and concurrency.
  • A pragmatic approach to problem-solving and the ability to make critical technical decisions in a fast-paced startup environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Direct experience building or working with multi-agent systems, actor models (e.g., Akka), or autonomous agent frameworks.
  • Experience with AI/ML systems, particularly in integrating and operationalizing Large Language Models (LLMs).
  • A strong background in cybersecurity, data encryption, and building systems with a privacy-first, zero-knowledge approach.
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform) and building on-premises or hybrid cloud environments.
  • Familiarity with containerization and orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
